After spending a few great days in San Antonio we hit the road again towards Belize City. As the ride was quite a long one we stopped in Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary to break up the ride. We camped at a lovely property owned by very nice people. Despite her stating she would refuse to ride on her birthday we decided to make our way to Belize City on Cass' birthday and celebrate later in the week on the beautiful island of Caye Caulker.
Caye Caulker took hold of us and what started as a 2 night stay turned into a 6 nighter. The Caribbean locals were beautiful and the lifestyle certainly seemed to suit us! We did a snorkelling tour and a fishing and spearfishing trip with a couple we met at Crooked Tree and took advantage of 5 gallons (19 litres) of rum punch!
From Caulker we returned to the mainland and biked to Monkey Bay Wildlife Sanctuary where the only wildlife we saw were millions of mosquitoes who were immune to our 98% DEET bug spray and horrible Dr Flies!
