On our second last day in Mérida, we decided to buy push bikes and take our time riding through Mexico and Central America. We found fairly cheap bikes (by Australian standards) and got them fitted with racks for our luggage.
We wanted to head towards the Gulf of Mexico, but this meant a 180km ride on our first day of cycling... So we opted for the bus instead. We caught the bus to the another colonial town, Campeche, which is said to be one of the most original and well preserved colonial town. From here we rode our bikes 68km south to a small town, Champoton. Here are a few photos of the towns and our ride.

We were trying to decide if this dude's ride was better than ours. |

Our campsite for the night - we paid a bloke about $4 to rent a cabana on the river for the day, and overnight camping was included! |
